Dear praying friend across Europe
Greetings in the name
of the Lord Jesus. My wife Drena and I have now lived in Europe for over
50 years. We first lived in Spain September 1060. We have had the
privilege of preaching and ministering in almost every nation of Europe and
have especially linked with Bible Colleges and university student groups like
the Christian Unions of the UK where we have lived for about 49 years.
For decades we had great all
Europe Missions Congresses as part of the TEMA Movement. I preached at
many of them usually in the land of my father’s birth, the
Netherlands. When that ended it was a sad day for many of us, but
how we thank the Lord for the European Evangelical Alliance and others that
have resurrected a similar kind of event called Mission-Net which will take
place again this year right after Christmas.
I believe with all my heart
that this is one of the most important Christian events in all of Europe and
want to urge everyone who gets this letter to get involved in one way or the
other. I look forward to being there and sharing what God has put on my
heart.
In North America we have the great Student Missions event
every 3rd year called Urbana (now takes place in St
Louis ) and this has become very famous with over 15,000 involved. MISSION-NET
IN SOME WAY IS THE URBANA OF EUROPE. We need to give it
top priority in our praying and giving and you should try to be
there. Churches should mobilize to help young people (its not
just for student) to get there.
The global missionary challenges are as great as
ever. See my website georgeverwer.com for a list of 40
nations that have less than 1% of the witness where I live in London, and
London also is a desperate mission field. Debbie Meroff’a brilliant
new book Europe Restoring Hope will be featured at Mission Net
together with Operation World and many other resources. There will
be over 120 mission agencies represented and many thousands of people are
expected.
European missionaries are needed
as much as ever in history, whether its across the street or to the ends of the
earth. We make a great mistake if we think this congress is for
certain kinds of Christians who have special interest in missions. No,
no, Mission-Net is for every believer who believes God and God’s Word.
I have never written a
letter like this before. I am hoping it will go out to my friends
and also to people I do not yet know all over Europe. Please make copies
and forward it to others. If you have a website please feel free to make
use of it. We hope it will go in many languages. I look forward to
meeting you the end of this great year at Mission-Net in in Erfurt,
Germany . Let’s be in much prayer and let us all be mission mobilizers for
Jesus.
