Am I called to missions?

Article by Gordon Liston 12/04/09

On a Kairos course www.kairoscourse.org.uk in May 09 ‘God, the Church and the World’ I was blessed by being reminded of the following truths.

Am I called to missions? This is a common question and the easiest conclusion to come to is that I could not do that so the answer is no.

In a talk by Dr. Winters he addressed the question, ‘is missions Biblically based’?  He said that it is more the case that the Bible is missions based. We tend to think of missions as the front line as in a war and one is called to the front.

Look around the ends of the earth are coming to you. God called Abraham to respond to His cause, and his children are ever so plentiful now. We are Abraham’s children and we need to reach out in response to the same cause for the Lord.

The question is not so much are we called to missions to see people saved, but will you respond to God’s cause for the glory and honour of God.We are as believers all workers in the harvest and it is the strategy of Jesus to make disciples of us to go.

The two lepers in 2 Kings realised that they had what the needy required and they were compelled to bring the good news to them.

2 Kings 7:9 Then they said to each other, "We’re not doing right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves.

The reason the church exists is to reach the world with God’s message for God to be glorified, honouredand praised.

The passion of Jesus through His time here on earth was to sanctify the Father’s name. Paul in Philippians 1:20 “ I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”

In the prayer Jesus taught us to pray the first thing is that God’s name be lifted up, sanctified. “hallowed be your name”.

Let God’s kingdom come His will be done. Believe God for revival, are you ready? Jesus was lifted up so to draw all men onto Himself. We are seeing this happen now we are a part of this today.

“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."” (John 12:32 NIV)
